Welcome to the final day of my series: LOVE IT, CUT IT, USE IT!
A tutorial of how to start using and making the most of your beautiful DSP ( Designer Series Paper)
So far I have shown you how to make 9 cards from 1 piece of DSP measuring 12” x 12”
Today I will show you how to make another 2 cards, just using 1 of our pre-cut DSP stock.
Card 1
Take the pre-cut piece of DSP and cut down the centre of the 4″ side so you will have two pieces of 2″ x 5 1/4′, we will use 1 piece now and save the other piece for the second card.
With this first piece, I decided to trim the bottom of the DSP so that it measures 4 3/4″ x 2″ this is so that I can have a white border around the edge.
For the white border take a piece of Whisper White 5′ x 4″ and using the Dino Dies, run one edge through the Big Shot machine to cut the little holes into the card stock, then attach to the card base. On this occasion I am using the Lovely Lipstick card stock to co-ordinate with the colour in the DSP, cut to 5 1/2 x 4 1/4.
Layer your DSP onto the left hand side of the white border using Tombo Glue.
With the Dino days stamp set, I stamped my Dino image onto Whisper White card along with some Dino patches on another piece. I then cut out the images, again using the Dino Dies.
For the egg, I used the Stampin’ Up Blender pen and the Crumb Cake Ink and created a smudged effect by dipping the pen onto the ink pad, removing the excess colour onto scrap and the spreading the colour thinly over the egg. See the two pictures for the visual explanation.
The inner square is made up with Lovely Lipstick border measuring 3 1/8″ x 3 18″ and the White card stock 3″ x3″, these are glued together using Tombo.
Make up your Dino and glue him into position on the White square. Using a couple of Dimensionals, attach the egg to expose the Dino so that he pops out of the egg. Attach the sentiment to the egg.
Card 2
I really think this card is RAWRsome!
I started by decorating the card base using the leaf stamp from the Dino Days Stamp set in Mossy Meadow and Old Olive, which creates your own DSP and a great background to the card. I also stamped some extra leaves onto some scrap Whisper White card stock before using the Dino dies to cut.
I also stamped some Dino’s onto the white in Lovely Lipstick and Flirty Flamingo and again cut them out.
I then glued the Dino’s directly onto my card base equal distance apart, 3 on each side of the card base.
Taking the second piece of DSP, glue this onto a piece of Mossy Meadow Card stock measuring 5 1/4 x 2 1/4 ( My card base for this card I reduced to 5 1/4 x 4 1/4 so that the length was equal to the DSP) so that the white is in the centre of the Mossy Meadow base.
Using Dimensionals attach to the card base.
I then glued the spare leaves onto the centre of the DSP and attached the sentiment along with a Mossy Meadow backing piece on top.
I really hope you have enjoyed this series as much as I have and that you now have the confidence to go and cut up your DSP knowing how much fun you can have making so many cards!
