Chinese New Year Ideas – Floating Lanterns

Chinese New Year will soon be here! January the 25th which is a Saturday, so book your favourite restaurant now to join in the celebrations.

Each Chinese New Year is associated with an animal name for one of 12 animals in the Chinese zodiac. This year it the year of the Rat.

In China and among the Chinese it is a tradition to give envelopes with money (Hong Bao, Ang Pao, or Lai See), which often come in the colour red, which symbolizes happiness, good luck, success and good fortune. These envelopes are mainly given as presents to children.

I have made a very simple card, the first of many that I plan to make for this festival as I plan to give them to my Chinese friends.

As you can see the primary colour is Real Red so the card has meaning.

What I really like about this card is that the Stamp set was FREE! Yes that’s right FREE!

As you may have read from my previous post ( Click HERE, if you missed it) From Jan to March, Sale-A-Bration is happening. This means for every $90 spent on product, you qualify for a free gift from the Sale-A-Bration Catalogue – click HERE to download.

I have used the Power of Hope bundle for this card, which includes both the Stamp set AND the Embossing folder, the required spend for this is $180.

I stamped the Good Luck Sentiment across the lantern before using Dimensionals to fix onto the card.

The sentiment for the inside of the card actually comes from the Playful Penguins stamp set, which was featured in the Holiday Catalogue. This is currently not available to order but will be back later in the year!

It is a simple card but I like SIMPLE. I hope you do too.

Join me again on Wednesday for more Chinese New Year Inspiration.

Thanks for reading Creative Fraggle and have a super stamping day!
