I wasn’t really surprised to hear that the Yuan Xiao (元宵节—yuán xiāo jié), or Lantern Festival was started over 2000 years as I am aware that the Chinese culture has a very long history of spiritual tradition. What did surprise me was that some also call this the “true” Chinese Valentine’s Day. I guess all of those lanterns lighting up the sky is very romantic!
Even with this in mind I still decided to make my next two cards with wishes of Luck and that New Year dreams would come true ( maybe in the romantic sense? lol)
For this card I wanted my lanterns to float in a starry sky so I used my Night of Navy blender pens.
There are many techniques to creating backgrounds but I wanted to see what this effect would be.
As you will see, I just ran my dark pen back and forth, trying to ensure I stopped not on my card stock but well over. As you can see I didn’t always achieve this lol
In random sections I went over with the lighter Blend and once I was happy with the colour, I went over with my Wink of Stella.
What do you think? Would you use the blends to create a background?
