Welcome to day 4 of my series: LOVE IT, CUT IT, USE IT!
A tutorial of how to start using and making the most of your DSP (Designer Series Paper)
Today I have two cards for you. The first uses the 3 “scrap” pieces from Day 1. (after cutting the 12”x12” DSP into 6 pieces each measuring 4” x 5 1/4”, we had 3 pieces measuring 1 1/2” x 4”). The other uses one of the 4” x 5 1/4” pieces.
Card 1
First I cut out 3 backing pieces using Old Olive card stock measuring 4” x 5 1/4”Add , which I then glued the DSP onto.
I then cut a second piece of Old Olive this time measuring 3 1/2” x 2 1/2”, plus I cut the same size in Whisper White card stock.
Using Pretty Peacock, Old Olive and Soft Suede, I created my design using the Dino Days stamp set.
As you will see I also layered my Dinosaur by using the Dino Dies to cut out both the Dinosaur and his spikes. ( if you don’t have the dies you can always fussy cut) this was attached using a dimensional onto my decorated Whisper White Card.
I then put together the final card by spacing the 3 pieces of DSP/card stock equally onto my card base. Next I attached the Old Olive using a dimensional at an angle. The whisper white card stock was glued directly onto the Old Olive this time horizontally so that it is inline with the card base.
Card 2
For this card I wanted to see more of the white border so first I cut my Whisper White card stock to the usual DSP size of 5 1/4 x 4” and the I cut a 1/4” off the horizontal and vertical piece of DSP.
As the card is a tall card, I measured the centre of the DSP and cut into the long left hand side to the middle (2”), I then folded each cut piece to reveal the underside of the DSP.
Before glueing the DSP onto the card stock, I lined up the folded DSP to see where the sentiment should be stamped. Once I was happy that the fold would not cover the sentiment, I stamped in Old Olive, the glued the DSP, but not the folded over edges.
I stamped the images I wanted then cut them out, again using the Dino Dies.
The tree base and leaves were glued directly onto the DSP under the folded section, then I used a dimensional to fix the folds in place.
The Dino was then attached using a dimensional on the body plus glue on the head to finish the card.
Don’t forget to decorate the inside too
I love it, I hope you do too.
Check back tomorrow for my final 2 cards in this series and thanks for reading Creative Fraggle!
Have a wonderful day x
