This is another card that I made whilst travelling. I had arrived in Dubai in the early hours of Monday morning and after a brief sleep I had to spend the rest of the day in the office assisting my former work colleagues with some paperwork.
When I finally left the office I was shattered and in need of some relaxation, it was of course far to early to go to bed so I reached for my Stampin’ Blends so that I could do some colouring, it really is the perfect way to wind down after a hard day!
I hadn’t packed too many of my Blends so I was quite limited with the colour choices but why let that put me off. I wouldn’t usually go for such bright colours but this is why crafting on the go is so much fun! It really does challenge you to get out of your comfort zone and try new things, be it different colours or different combinations of stamps to achieve the card you need.
Measurements:
- Base: Whisper White (WW) – 5 1/2″ x 4 1/8″
- First Layer: Old Olive (OO) 5 1/4 ” x 3 7/8″ ( I always cut keep the offcuts so I can make two cards)
- Top Layer: (WW) 5 1/4 ” x 3 7/8″
If you have read my blogs before you will know I always start by having my layering piece measuring my own standard size, as with this card the layer is then cut down using the Stitched Nested Labels, which I place in the centre of the card stock so that I have a frame ( a piece with a hole) and also a smaller solid piece like what I am using below. In this project the 2 centre pieces are left over from previous projects! I love being able to make 2 cards from 1 piece of card stock, don’t you?
With my WW centre piece in hand, I started by creating my design using the Leaf and one of the flowers from the Free as a Bird Stamp Set, stamped in Tuxedo Black.
I then stamped my Sentiment in the Middle of the card.
I then coloured the images. To brighten the card I went around each flower and leaf in Light Daffodil Delight to give a glow to the card.
I Glued the Old Olive card stock directly to the base and then using Dimentionals I layered the second layer off centre.
I added some old Rhinestone to add bling ( You could just use the plain crystal ones )
Finally I stamped and coloured a few leaves on the top left and bottom right of the inside of the card.
I nearly never shared this card as it really is so different for me and sometimes I like the effect and other times I don’t! What do you think? I wonder if I will ever send it to anyone? Would you be happy to receive it?
