For some, the Christmas period is not a time of Peace and Joy but a time of loneliness and sad reflections.
I recently came across a post on Facebook from a lady who suffers from depression and for her Christmas brings bad memories of days gone past.
How brave to share her story, I am sure her post will help raise awareness of Mental illness and remind us to be kind especially at such a special time of the year.
This lady was reaching out asking for help so that she could try and put to bed the ghosts of Christmas past, it was such a simple request, could we send her a card so that when she feels low, she can look at the cards and know that someone out there cares x
It really shows how powerful a simple card can be and what a difference it can make to someone’s life.
I wrote the card immediately and popped it into the post box this morning. I hope it brings some peace and Joy.
I started by colouring sections of my card stock with the Dark blend of Night of Navy and dark Cherry Cobbler. I then went onto to use the lighter of each colour to blend and overlap the darker sections. This “spreads” the colours and makes them bleed into each other. I also used Ivory on certain areas which has the effect of lightening the sections.
With Blends, I find that you sometimes need to leave the colours to settle for 5 mins before you can really see the finished effect. If I am not quite happy after that time, I just touch up the sections that I need to.
I then stamped some stars and the sentiment using Versa Mark Ink ( You need Versa Mark for embossing) and used the Silver embossing powder along with a heat gun to give texture.
On a separate piece of cardstock I stamped a large star also in Versa mark, heat embossed then cut out using the Co-ordinating die.
I used Dimentional to assemble the card.
Wanting this to be special I stamped the envelope too
