CRAFTING ON THE GO!

The great thing about crafting on the go, is that it really forces you to improvise.

The night before I flew I realised that I couldn’t actually live a week without my craft supplies so I was forced to just grab a few things to pack.

Trying to focus my packing, I thought I would like to make a fun memory album using the Dino Days DSP so with that in mind I had to quickly cut down the 12 x 12″ paper to ensure I could fit it into my craft carry case, which is just larger than A4 size so not large enough for 12 x 12″ DSP! I had some measurements in mind although for a few of the pieces I did make some errors but that is for a different blog!

Of course also need the Dino Days stamp set to compliment the paper.

I knew I also wanted to start my Christmas card stack, so the stamp set “Most Wonderful Time” was also packed. ( For some reason though, I forgot to pack the rest of the product medley!)

Next I needed pens, which colours to bring?

I know the DSP is made up of: Old Olive, Lovely Lipstick, Mango Melody, Pool Party, Flirty Flamingo, Pineapple Punch and Pretty Peacock, so I packed all of those colours, some in Stampin’ pads but I knowing space would be an issue, I decided that the majority would have to be Stampin’ Write pens. I didn’t want to limit my creativity so I also grabbed a handful of different colours too. How surprised was I when I hadn’t even brought one shade of yellow lol.

I randomly chose some different coloured card stock along with the card I needed for my album.

I don’t know about you but I often have an idea for a project but then decide against certain parts of it. I have many die cut shapes that have been discarded (but never thrown away!) As I didn’t have time to think about what shapes I would want to use I added these to my craft box, hoping that there would be some that I could use.

As I knew I would bring the Bird Ballard stamp set I also needed my Stampin’ Blends. I just love using the blends to colour! So without checking on colours, I also popped a handful of these into my bag.

Glue, blocks, shammy, dimensional’s and of course my wink of Stella pen (I can’t live without sparkle) were also added.

Onto my first project:

As it was a windy day I didn’t want to risk my album, so out came the “Most Wonderful Time” Stamp set.

I took a piece of card stock Whisper White card stock to create my usual base size of 5 1/2 x 4 1/4″ As I had packed a “Layering Circles” pre- cut in Daffodil Delight, I decided to use a backing layer in the same colour. This I cut to 5 3/8 x 4″ as I only wanted a small border.

I had 2 different shades of green with me, Old Olive and Mossy Meadow, great for a Christmas tree.

As I only had Dino Days DSP with me I thought I would make my own DSP by stamping the small Christmas tree image onto the card, one row in one shade the next row is the other shade. This was done on a card base measuring 5 1/4 x 3 7/8″

I then added and extra piece of Daffodil Delight card stock (measuring 1′ x 5 1/4′ so it was the same width as the DSP) to the lower part of the card, I stamped on the O Christmas Tree sentiment using Mossy Meadow.

I then stamped the tree also in Mossy Meadow and then did some fussy cutting. The tree was coloured using light and dark Old Olive Stampin’ Blends, I also coloured some areas in Bronze before bending with the light olive.

Can you see that I have added a Wink of Stella randomly onto the tree and also around the edge of the circle?

When I got home form my holiday I added the copper star from the Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements to finish the effect, as I didn’t have room for those either lol

No DSP? No Problem #Letsgetcreativefraggle is action lol

Thanks for Reading Creative Fraggle and have a wonderful day!

Love Lynda x
