I was so honoured that Cayleigh May asked me to accompany her on the Stampin’ Up incentive trip to Greece earlier this year. It was an amazing experience and the reason I finally decided to become a Demonstrator!
It was such a brilliant trip that we did indeed fill our time with “Beautiful Moments” while creating gorgeous cards along with making many “Happy Memories”
This is one of the cards I made while onboard, as you probably know by now, Cayls and I just love to craft when we are together and rather than sunbathe we spent our time sat in the Wine bar crafting. The wine bar had a huge table, perfect for crafting! ( I don’t think I need to mention the other added attraction and benefit lol)
If you have ever been to a Stampin” Up event you will know that Demo’s like to show what they have made and issue Swaps to fellow demo’s. Stampin’ Up put these makes on boards so that everyone has inspiration.
As I was not a Demo at the time, I wasn’t able to participate but of course I did take photo’s, unfortunately I don’t have the details of the Demo who made the card below and who was the inspiration for my card. Gorgeous though isn’t it!
I didn’t have the instructions so I had to guess how to make it, so here is what I did, just in case you would like to CASE.
As you will see I didn’t actually take photo’s while I was making so there is another card in progress here!
Measurements:
- Base: Night of Navy – 4 1/8″ x 4 1/8″
- 2 x First Layer /back layer : Whisper White (WW) 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″
- DSP 3 7/8″ x 3 7/8″
- Belt: Night of Navy – 1 1/4″ x 8 5/8″
- Belt DSP: – 1″ x 8 1/2″
I started by decorating my inner layer, by stamping my sentiment and stars.
I then cut the DSP into 2 pieces from the top left hand corner to the bottom right hand corner as per photo below:
Then on you WW inner cardstock identify the middle of the paper and mark a faint pencil point so that you can use as a guide to line up the paper.
Half way would 1 15/16″ or 5cm
Now you have you centre marked, you need to position the DSP so that the corner of the paper lines up to this point, hold the paper firmly and the score along the edge of the cardstock, see photo below:
Repeat this process for the other piece of DSP.
Glue both pieces to the back of the inner layer of cardstock but only once you are sure that they touch in the middle. As you can see from the photo above and below, you have an overhang of DSP which needs to be trimmed.
I found this easier to trim once the DSP was in place.
Below is the layer glued and trimmed, ready to be attached to the base.
To make the “belt”, I can’t think of another way to call the piece that is removable but holds the flaps down lol, do you have a better name?
I first of all scored at the half way point of the card 2 1/16. I then placed the belt onto the card and folded along the score line so one end was in the centre of the card and the longer piece was behind the card. On the edge of the other side of the card I carefully hand folded so that you have enough room to slide the belt off the card but tight enough to stay in place. I then glued in the middle, I followed the same technique for the DSP.
For the Night of Navy card I attached a Star from the “Brightly Gleaming Foil Elements” pack.
It sounds super compilated but it really is much easier than it sounds!
